月曜日が祝日だったので、ボクも含めて学生達にとってラッキーな週の始まりとなった。この日は連邦国家のであるオーストラリアではクィーンの誕生日を祝う。ボクは友達とマンリーでブランチをゆっくりとった後、マンリー北部のビーチでサーフィンを楽しんだ。休日はあっという間に過ぎてしまい、早速１週間のカレッジの準備にとりかかった。ボクは現在国際観光学科の８学期目を取っていて、近い将来はこの職種で良い仕事に就ければと希望する。まずは仕上げなければならないコースノートをプリントし、それから自分の勉強がきちんとアップデートされているかと確認する。（ボクはこれが苦手でめったに出来ないのだけど・・・・）そして授業と自分の仕事がぶつかっていないかも確認しなくてはならない。ボクは当カレッジで催される会議、セミナー、結婚式などのイベントを受け持つファンクション部で仕事をしていて、特に最高なのは報酬をもらえることなのだ。
 
火曜日は特別な事はなく普通に過ぎたけど、水曜日はスタッフ全員のファンクションミーティングがあり楽しかった。これは新しいスタッフと一緒にそれぞれのファンクションの流れを追って行われた。新人スタッフにとってこれは極めて重要なミーティングなのである。僕達スタッフは、テーブルセッティング、挨拶の仕方、サービスの順序、お出しするワイン、ビールその他のアルコールについての知識、身なり、マナー、プロ意識などなど、５スターのサービスを教える。
ミーティングのあと、仲の良い友人宅で夕食をごちそうになる。彼女はとても料理が上手で、伝統的なスウェーデンのミートボールを作ってくれた。抜群においしかった！僕達のカレッジには４０カ国以上の学生がいるので、世界中の人たちと友達になれる。今ボクには西ヨーロッパ、カナダ、南北アメリカそしてアジア各国からの友達がいる。
 
それほどストレスではない週が終わり、金曜日になった。この夜はカレッジでメキシコパーティーが催された。カレッジのバーの責任者であるボクは飲食係りを受け持つ事になった。参加者がかぶるソンブレロやおいしいナチョス、たたいて遊ぶピナータ、メキシコのドリンク、音楽などを調達しなくてはならなかった。参加した学生達は口ひげやポンチョにピストルと結構ちゃんとおもしろく仮装して現れた。このカレッジはクロスドレス、メキシコパーティー、オークション、アイスブレーカーなどのテーマパーティで評判が高い。
 
東京での生活を経験してみて、ボクは東京のにぎやかな街と文化は大好きだけど、この美しいマンリーを離れる事は想像できない。世界中の人が集まる国際感あふれるこの小さなコミュニティーマンリーはボクに色々与えてくれるから・・・・
 
来週の金曜日２５日ここカレッジでは、スカンジナビアの伝統的な夏のフェスティバル“Midsommar”を祝う。スカンジナビア人の学生達は親しい友人達にごちそうを用意してくれるので来週のブログをお楽しみに。
