Two months of holidays, moving to a new apartment and pure relaxation is now replaced by being back in the castle. First day is over (only had one class, 8-10am, could one have a better start?) and I’ve seen so many of those faces that I’ve been missing during the break: friends that have been going home or overseas during the break, as well as friends that have returned from their Industry Training. It’s good to be back!
I also managed to get my textbooks second hand (good to have friends in terms above), to get myself a locker (sign up in reception), and to schedule in a meeting for tomorrow morning in regards to the scholarship that I was the proud receiver of at the end of last term.
The Touraust Corporation Scholarship is a scholarship that is given out once per term, to one ICMS student in term 6. The scholarship means that all my college fees for the entire third year are being looked after by the college, on the condition that I work 8 hours per week for Touraust Corporation (i.e. the college). I’ll be working in the Functions Department at ICMS (where I’ve already been employed for a good 9 months), with a newly created position, and just can’t wait to get started! (If you would like to find out more about the scholarship, check out the ICMS webpage.)
Other things that have been happening lately that’s definitely worth typing down:
- The cocktail party for all new students at the front lawn of ICMS, Tuesday last week. It was splendid to be outdoors and serving canapés and drinks to future fellow students. The day was hot and sunny (or at least just up until the very end when a light, refreshing rain poured down on us) and the mood was high.
- The Professional Performance Program (PPP) lead by Mr Milz last Friday was another good day, and I got to meet the students whom I’ll have the privilege of mentoring (together with Mr Collins, wellknown as PC). It was a beautifully mixed group of nationalities and backgrounds, and hopefully they’ll feel like they contact one of us if they’ve got any questions or issues about anything throughout the term.
Tomorrow my boyfriend’s going home to Queensland for his brother’s bucks night (away for a week!) and next month I’ll go up with him for the wedding (and meeting the family, jay!). Valentine’s Day’s coming up this Saturday and of course Icebreakers by the end of this week!
Lastly, if you enjoy writing, taking photos, or are creative, then you should join the Comms Team! We are the students writing the weekly college newsletter and we need some fresh ideas! Pop in to the Marketing office (same floor as Great Hall, but at the other end of the building) or send me an e-mail.
Thank you for reading,
Pia
